Brunswick, MD – April 9, 2018 –The Brunswick Citizen is excited to announce a new way for readers to keep up with local news and happenings on the Go2s private social network. Go2s is a Brunswick-based company that launched in October 2017 to provide an alternative to traditional social media.
Companies such as Facebook and Twitter have taken a beating in the last year as allegations have emerged of improper data use, falsely-inflated user rates, and deliberately-placed misleading advertisements.
Editor Julie Maynard sees an alternative with Go2s, stating, “We like Go2s’ emphasis on building community. Newspapers work best when readers feel like the news and the people making it are neighbors— that we are all in this together. We hope that Go2s will help us build a network that works both ways— that The Citizen can share what we know and that readers in turn can share their news and perspectives.”
The Citizen Digest group is open to all and will share news highlights as well as provide a way for readers to submit story ideas when there is something going on that deserves media attention. A soon-to-follow subscriber’s group will provide full articles for current subscribers to the paper.
Go2s can be downloaded for free onto a mobile device or accessed via computer by going to www.go2s.com/invite. To become a member of The Brunswick Citizen Digest group, go to the Groups tab, and search for “Citizen.” Click on the icon, followed by the “Join” button.
